Pursuit to Holiness
Colossians 3: 1-16
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is,
sitting at the right hand of God. 2Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. 8But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy languageout of your mouth. 9Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10and have put on the new manwho is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave norfree, but Christ is all and in all.
The character of the New Man
12Therefore, as theelect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaintagainst another;even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and bethankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Refrain from anger and abandon wrath; do not fret--it can only bring harm.
to put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are
all members of one another.
Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up
the one in need and bringing grace to those who listen.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, outcry and slander, along with every form of malice.
Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character,
but rather thanksgiving.

18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his
body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.…
You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of
God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does
not belong to Christ.

We can not entertain gossip. We can not gossip ourselves and
we cannot let others gossip to us.
Meditate on These Things
8Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and
the God of peace will be with you.
Jeremy Gibson INTERCESSORS….WATCH YOUR MOUTH
Intercessors like Prophets cannot be gossipers. Gossip will render them ineffective.
Your entire ministry relies on your mouth and the words you speak. You can’t effectively speak life into
people through prayer or the prophetic when you murder them in your conversations
We have no time to waste on anything that is gonna hinder our walk w the Lord
or our prayers! GOSSIP is a SIN
Gossip is a trap and reveals what's in your heart. We must repent and stop doing it.
If it's not good, or praiseworthy, don't say it…we aren't supposed to be complaining
anyways. I know things happen and we need to vent, but those things are reserved
for the Lord only.
We are called to be trustworthy people. It's hard because we want to offer a hearing
ear and let those we love vent to us. We aren't God though. People may not like that
they can't spill the beans to use, but we don't want others running their mouths about
what we say either. Even manipulated in a prayer request or slipped in w, I know I'm
not supposed to say this or gossip BUT
It's gonna be hard. We like to feel valued, heard, justified, etc…we will be tempted…
choose the high road…what is the intent behind our words? We are to build and love
others, gossip kills their spirit, and the words we have just spoken into existence over
that person. What have others said about u? We need to break off word curses off
ourselves daily!
Pray together
We cannot waste energy on those who want to do this.
What does this say about the heart of one who does this? Fearful, insecure, jealous, talebearer, untrustworthy
Challenge: pray the Word
Only Speak things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, good report
Let no corrupt communication, grumbling or complaining come
from your mouth
Crucify the flesh and the lusts thereof
DIE DAILY
