Question: Does God invite people into heaven if they have accepted Christ many years ago, but didn't really try living for God? I think they do no matter how they act, but just not sure.
The Whole Gospel to the Whole World by the Whole Church
What We Believe
[ Read Our Doctrinal Foundation for more information ]
The UPCI is a Bible-based church. We're Bible-based in that we seek to base all of our beliefs and our lifestyle on explicit passages of the Bible or on biblical principles. Based on Scripture, we believe the following . . .
We shall endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit until we all come into the unity of the faith, all the same time admonishing all brethren that they shall not contend for their different views to the disunity of the body.
I believe this article answers most of the question. Although, I don't believe God invites us into Heaven. I mean we were all born sinners and were all given a free will. When Jesus died on the cross, he took our place. He gave us the option. If we want it then we can receive it by faith. I don't believe every person that has a good heart will make it into heaven. I don't believe just because a person hasn't really done much wrong in their life means they will make it into heaven. I believe there are steps to get into heaven. First we must believe the whole bible by faith....accepting Jesus into our hearts and yielding our lives to him...inviting him to take control of our lives, thoughts, minds, hearts, our relationships, family...our everything. I believe we must have Jesus a center focal point in our life. We can't just push Him to the back burner and when we need something then we pray. I don't believe it works that way. He doesn't want us to be like that. He likes it when we give him our time, talent, energy, giving, prayer and fasting. He is jealous of us. He wants more us! Anyways, we must believe the Jesus is Lord and confess with our mouths that He is Lord and repent of our sins, truly asking forgiveness and laying them all down and have faith that you are forgiven. So, you believe and have faith, have accepted Jesus into your heart and into your life. Now, we must be baptized, a full water immersion, our whole body must be immersed. Acts 2:38, Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. And, we also must receive the Holy Spirit. John 3:5-7 says, Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. So, we must accept Jesus into our hearts by confession, repent, be baptized of water and of spirit and then I believe we need to keep it up and going. I know by experience we can get distracted, mislead and deceived and backslide from this. I believe you need to pray and read everyday, attend church regularly in order to maintain our salvation. I don't believe just because we are saved and baptized once means we are good for life and we can do anything and everything we want. I believe if we are right w/ God that we will be and feel convicted when we do wrong. I'm not saying we are perfect, by when we realize it's sin we should stop and be quickened. Although, we must repent and ask forgiveness for no matter what sin we commit. And, we are still going to sin, mess up, and make mistakes. We were born sinners! God is merciful and just and He loves us. He knows who we are and our make up. I don't know if I have fully answered the question, but I encourage you to pray yourself and ask the Lord this question and then go and read and do a bible study of all these scriptures and the Lord will show you the truth.

Fundamental Doctrine
The basic and fundamental doctrine of this organization shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit give utterance. We shall endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit until we all come into the unity of the faith, all the same time admonishing all brethren that they shall not contend for their different views to the disunity of the body.
About the Bible
The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. (See II Timothy 3:15-17.)About God
There is one God, who has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. (See Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16.)About Sin and Salvation
Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (See Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9.)About the Gospel
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (II Thessalonians 1:8; I Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection). (See I Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4.)About Christian Living
As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. (See Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10.)About the Future
Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15.)I believe this article answers most of the question. Although, I don't believe God invites us into Heaven.
